We’re delighted to announce that Enable Ability and Landport Community Centre have received the Freedom of the City of Portsmouth in recognition for their work through the early phases of the Covid pandemic and the subsequent lockdowns. Staff helped prepare and deliver meals for local residents, worked with Pompey In The Community to provide hot food to the needy and also prepared hundreds of hot takeaways for Society of St James, a charity that helps the homeless. We were also one of the very few Community Centres to remain open for calls and enquiries and signposting residents to other services. The Landport Larder Scheme also opened up last year, and has been such a success it remains open and provides subsidised food for the people of Portsmouth. Councillor Tom Coles, Deputy Lord Mayor of Portsmouth visited the centre to present the award to Charity Manager, Richard Soutar and EA Chairman, Jon Muller.
