Inter Activ…
is one of our flagship services, supporting adults with learning disabilities and neurodiverse conditions aged 17+, who look to gain independence, build employability skills, and find meaningful ways to engage in their community.
Based at Landport Community Centre, Inter Activ supports over 40 participants at any one time, offering multiple structured workstreams that include- Marketing, work in our Community Centre Café; Video tours and photography; Computer Repairs; and Web Design. Gaining experience in these areas of work enable our participants to:
• Volunteer within the community
• Continue into Further Education
• Gain sustainable and meaningful employment
The significant number of individuals we’ve supported into employment, further education, or volunteering over the past six years is a clear reflection of the life-changing impact and expertise of this service (110 in the past 4 years with 56 of those being real jobs of which 35% were sustained for 6 months or more). It provides a dynamic, supportive environment where adults with disabilities are given the tools, guidance, and space to grow and thrive.
For many, Inter Activ has provided not just skills and opportunities, but also a sense of purpose, confidence, and belonging. It helps bridge the gap between social isolation and meaningful participation in the wider community, empowering people with disabilities to lead more independent and fulfilling lives. We’ve seen more than 250 adults move through Inter Activ over the six years, with more than 129 supported into employment, volunteering roles, or further education since the programme began.
Why We Need Your Help Now…
Despite its proven success and increasing demand, Inter Activ is now at serious risk!
Due to rising employment costs and a funding shortfall Enable Ability is facing a 4-month funding gap- a shortfall that the charity simply cannot sustain. Without immediate support, this vital service could be closed, putting the futures of those we support at risk.
To safeguard the future of Inter Activ and the individuals it supports, we urgently need to raise £50,000. This will ensure continuity of service while we seek other major funding opportunities.
Inter Activ is a lifeline for adults with disabilities, many of whom face daily and deeply entrenched barriers to employment, inclusion, and independence. This is not a temporary challenge- it’s a long-term need that will not simply go away. Without services like Inter Activ, far too many individuals risk being left behind, unseen and unsupported.
Your donation will allow us to:
Deliver the full Inter Activ programme without interruption for between 40-60 adults with learning disabilities and neurodiverse conditions.
Continue to provide staffing, mentoring, training, and access to volunteering, further education and paid employment opportunities
Ensure those furthest from the job market do not lose the progress they’ve worked so hard to achieve
Without this immediate funding, the life-changing work of Inter Activ could be stopped- and that’s something we are determined to prevent!
